| Making the most of what you’ve got. Consider the way you currently use the entertainment space within your venue. It is also important to consider the possible alternate ways that your venue could be used. Your pub designer can make more out of your space when designing or refurbishing your venue, it is a profitable idea to engineer into the space, versatile and flexible areas that can be used by different groups of people at all sorts of different times, for as many different purposes as you can imagine.
For example if you have a dining room that stops serving dinner at 9pm, but a bar that is open till 1pm – why not move some of the tables to provide space of a dance floor? Your Pub Designer could also recreate this area as a multi function area suitable for any activity that will hopefully fill the space.
It is important for your Pub Designer to look at all your furniture especially the type of screening, tables and chairs used. Other ways that you can use to divide up the space are planting, moveable screens or even operable walls.
There are a number of different possibilities your space could be used for. In order to maximise the usage, the following activities are just a few possibilities which you might consider for your venue.
• Conferences
• Weekend Buffet
• Live Music
• Dancing
• Karaoke
• Classes
• Yoga
• Meditation
• Social and Sports Club Meetings
• Indoor Sports
• Trivia
• Bingo
• Formal Events
• Pre school Kids and Mums Activities
It is important for your Pub Designer to consider the different uses of your venue prior to designing or furnishing your venue to ensure optimal versatility. For example:
• If your primary use for the space is sit down dining, having a large number of the seating as low lounge chairs would be impractical even if you wanted the venue to have a relaxed feel. Older guests tend have difficulty getting out of low level seating and this sort of seating is not as suitable for dining as the tables tend to be smaller and further away.
• If you are moving furniture around your Pub Designer wouldn’t chose them to be large sofas and heavy stone top tables. The same goes for fixed tables and banquet seating. What you are looking for is the ability to be able to configure in the least possible time with the least amount of labour.
• Having a convertible dance floor that is not near the bar or sound system would not be functional. Who ever is playing Disk Jockey or giving classes needs to be connected to the activity.
• Indoor games such as carpet bowls and darts require areas to be cleared for the activity. The same goes for all sorts of classes which can be used to fill the venue at off peak times such as Dancing, Yoga and other activities
• Mums and pre-school kids are another group that frequently look for places to hold social gatherings or indulge in activities such as Kids Gym.
